In the canon, it has been revealed that his demonic form emerges as a means for protecting one's self, demon blood takes control in order to preserve his life. The pure blood of his father is too strong for a half demon such as himself. In essence the demon blood would devour his human soul. He will not be able to recognize himself, differentiate between friend or foe. He will simply kill. With repeated transformations he will eventually lose his soul. He will only know how to fight and kill and he will continue to kill until he is destroyed. Sesshomaru has stated he feels no fear, and knows no pain. InuYasha doesn't know who he is and will continue to fight until he dies. It does not matter who he is fighting against, he kills everything in his wake. During these transformations he doesn't remember his activity as a ruthless demon. Everytime he transforms, he loses a piece of himself. The most recent conversion he was unable to hear Kagome. InuYasha fears this side of him, he's afraid that in this form he will kill Kagome and the others and not be able to stop himself. Because of this he wishes to overcome his demonic form and now his Tetsusaiga has become essential to him. The Tetsusaiga protects him. It keeps InuYasha's demon side locked away. Even after the sword is repaired from when it was broken (how his demon half took control in the first place,) it will be difficult to keep his demon self to be subdued now that it has tasted the pleasure of killing.

Ability: Because InuYasha has sensitive smell, he can pick up the faintest of scents. Also powerful, potent scents such as ink can be overwhelming enough cause him to black out. He relies heavily on this ability to determine his whereabouts, those nearby, and what he's dealing with. Provided he has knowledge of it. It would be extremely helpful for me if you could clarify things about your character that InuYasha is going to pick up.

Character: "Riku" [Riku Replica]
Scent: Human/other. Technically a replica made from human DNA, so will likely ping as 'human'.
Unique Characteristics: Being a replica, his scent is nearly identical to that of any of the two Rikus or the other Riku Replica. If Inuyasha can pick out light/darkness in addition to normal people scent, he'll probably smell less dark than at least two of his facetwins.

Scent: While his body looks human and might smell like one, Inu-yasha will probably be able to notice that this person is not normal. After all, chaos isn't a human, but a failsafe for his universe.
Unique Characteristics: In his universe, chaos is a failsafe that can destroy the physical plane if it's put under so much stress that it threatens the other planes. So he might be able to use that to sniff him out and track him. I can't really think of anything else.

If Inuyasha can pick up true ages from physical ages somehow...then maybe Ion smells like how a small, small child might? Unique Characteristics: He might smell like he's sick (since he is, even though he doesn't realize it). Or like dust and ash--since his planet is a still-recovering wasteland. He also keeps snacks in his hat at any given time, so he could potentially smell like the weird Tower food.

Unique Characteristics: Not particularly. All of his special talents are hidden up in his brain. If anything, he might smell...like the wind? If you can think of how the wind would smell.

Unique Characteristics: She'd probably smell similar to Ivan, but not identical - since he's from Contigo, and they're said to be descendants of the ancient Anemos people; Sheba, meanwhile, is said to actually be a full Anemos since she fell from the sky. Might just be that the wind scent is stronger on her?

Unique Characteristics: He probably smells like explosives. Because he's just that much of a dick. Also, there's blood on the bracelet he wears, but it smells different from his own blood.

Scent: She's an android! So, she smells like silicone, metal and various other mechanical stuff. So, kind of like what a blacksmith in his time would work with, just very much more advanced.
Unique Characteristics: She also smells like nuclear energy since that's how she keeps herself powered. She's also very powerful, too, even though she looks like she doesn't have that much muscle mass to her.

Scent: Gerudo/Demon mixed, a lot more Gerudo when in human form, a lot more demon when in demon form. Gerudo is probably somewhat similar to human.
Unique Characteristics: He is a demoniac soul within a vessel of flesh and blood-- He's the "daimaou" (great demon king) and great king of evil, so expect darkness and evil magics/powers. His soul is that of the source of all evil/demons back in Hyrule's World and is pretty much made of hatred, hatred and hatred only. On the other hand, thanks to the Triforce of Power he wields the power of the gods, so that may be confusing smell-wise.

Unique Characteristics: He can summon a Persona thanks to his previous game and his dog always follows him, dunno if this affects the scent? Also he consistently do scientific stuff and may smell like the products he uses.
