Name: InuYasha
Canon: InuYasha
Canon Point: Post EP. 81 "Vanishing Point; Naraku Disappears"
Age: 15 (in appearance), 200 (Chronologically)
History: Wikia
Personality:
InuYasha is coarse by nature, he speaks in a direct manner and he's quick to voice his opinion regardless of whether it's favored or not. If someone one is staring at him unprovoked (or even provoked) he'll call them out. His rough exterior makes it difficult to get close to him, and with good reason. Growing up as a half-breed, InuYasha was unwanted everywhere he went because there is no place for his kind. His mother had unfortunately passed on while he was young, forcing him to fend for himself at an early age. InuYasha closed himself off from the world and created a wall as a means to protect his feelings from the harsh nature caused by demons and humans alike who looked down upon him.
It wasn't until his development with Kikyo that he started to adapt outside of his isolated lifestyle. His feelings for her grew the more time he spent with her. While he did have romantic sentiments for the priestess, his coarse nature hadn't softened. InuYasha grew into the caring person he is currently through the kindness expressed toward him by Kagome, and eventually the others (Shippo, Miroku, and Sango). InuYasha doesn't like to admit his feelings for or to others, and he tends to use the Shikon jewel as a scapegoat to avoid confessing that he actually enjoys Kagome's company. Kaede has said that little by little Kagome has healed the wounds of his heart. According to Kikyou, his expression has softened. Anyone who knows InuYasha knows that he's not as mean as he presents himself to be. Miroku has said that he is a softie under his hard nose exterior. His companions have described him as easily deceived and honest to a fault.
InuYasha is still growing, and he's still learning to show more empathy than he had prior to his time spent with his group. The half demon initially wouldn't go out of his way to help strangers in need, he had never before, but he would be pressured by his group to help them because he was capable of assisting. At first, he resented that he had to help, let alone help humans. Miroku had said that whenever he does a good deed, he becomes foul. His continued exposure to the thoughtfulness and empathy of his friends have shaped him. When he was undergoing Totosai's "training" a young lynx demon fell ill. Without prompting, InuYasha took it upon himself to nurse the young demon back to health. When asked why he was helping, InuYasha replied that he reminded him of a friend that's his age (Shippo). Slowly but surely InuYasha is gesturing compassion toward others.
Because of Kagome InuYasha is learning to bond with others, humans even. His traveling companions, in particular, ignore the fact that he's a half-breed and accepts him for who he is. In turn, he has accepted them for who they are (give or take a few traits, like Miroku's perverted habits for instance). InuYasha has and is continuing to become protective of them. Some of it likely extends from the fact that he hasn't had relationships like this before now. When Miroku risked his life to use the wind tunnel, InuYasha stepped in and ceased it. InuYasha followed with threatening to tear his arm off if he tried the stunt again. It's InuYasha's way of saying he didn't want Miroku to die. Which elicits his selfishness and possessiveness, for example, InuYasha has feelings for both Kagome and Kikyo. When any other man dares to get close expresses murderous intent toward them.
InuYasha has feelings for both and is unable to let Kikyo go. Recently these feelings have been mixed with guilt because he finds himself at fault for not being able to protect her. His feelings are further confused when present with Kagome, who shares Kikyo's soul, and is doesn't want to let her go either. However, due to his canon point, InuYasha has ultimately chosen to side with Kikyo over her reincarnation, Kagome. InuYasha has stated that her life is his as his life is hers, and has every intention of joining her in hell to make amends for his inability to save her. With that in mind, InuYasha has advertently pushed Kagome further away. InuYasha does not wish to lose Kagome in the same way he had lost Kikyo fifty years ago. Had Kagome not confessed her feelings for him, and told him she didn't want to be without him; InuYasha would have let her go. Taking her feelings into consideration (to an extent) he lets Kagome be with him even though he can't accept her as a love interest (in earnest).
Just because InuYasha is a demon, a rugged one at that, doesn't mean he's senseless. One of his more positive traits includes the importance of life. InuYasha has only been shown killing those who tried to kill him or his friends first, he doesn't believe in killing for the thrill and hates anyone who does. Instead of attacking the artist and killing the human, InuYasha attacked the ink pot instead, as it was the source of the ink demon. There was an instance where he had even protected children while fighting Goshinki. Even InuYasha understands the importance of life.
One of InuYasha's downfalls is his lack of overall intelligence, he is not known for being smart or making wise decisions. This isn't normally an issue in battle, as InuYasha tends to rely on raw power alone. In addition, his power is exercised through this emotionally driven need. When in battle, he's not one to analyze the tactics of his foes. Social engagements, cues, and reactions tend to be where he suffers the most from his lack of knowledge. His poorly misplaced comments often lead him to the consequences of being punished through command by Kagome. His companions are not above shooting glares or snarking at his comments with a retort of their own. As if that wasn't bad enough, InuYasha is ignorant of certain things. Like "atmosphere" for example. When Kagome was pressing for Miroku and Sango to get together, she kept bringing up atmosphere, a term which InuYasha couldn't understand.
InuYasha also reacts through violence when confronted with unfavorable comments. Typically this is witnessed toward Shippo more than any of the other members. InuYasha is not known for problem-solving when complications surface. Out of them all, Miroku is the most well informed.
InuYasha has flipped-flopped with the desire to become (full) human versus to become a (full) demon. His original intention to lead a life of a normal human was due to his love for Kikyo. When met by Kagome (after Kikyo's 'betrayal',) he changed his mind to becoming a full demon and abandoned what feelings he developed for the priestess and humans in general. Through his travels, his intention was less out of spite and more out of the desire to become stronger. This was dashed when InuYasha realized he was no more than a senseless monster as a full-demon. Now he aspires for true strength instead.
↳ FULL DEMON FORM
In the canon, it has been revealed that his demonic form emerges as a means to preserve his life from imminent death. The pure blood of his father is too strong for a half demon such as himself. In essence, the demon blood devours his human soul. InuYasha is unable to recognize himself, and differentiate between friend or foe. He'll kill anything or anyone in his wake regardless of whether they're a threat or not. Sesshomaru has stated he feels no fear, and knows no pain. His demonic form is nothing but a senseless demon who will only kill until he himself is killed.
↳ FULL HUMAN FORM
InuYasha has confessed that he is overcome with emotions when in full human form.
↳ DOG
His demon heritage is that of a dog demon, so he has dog-like habits. He often likes to sit on all fours, and will occasionally stand on all fours while sniffing out scents. InuYasha has been shown scratching behind his ears with his feet, kicking up dirt onto a well (albeit comically) and even growl like that of a dog. When wet he does shake himself off. Rumiko has stressed the softness of his ears and has shared that his nose is wet like that of a dog and when he's ill, it becomes dry and crusty…like that of a dog.
Abilities:
As a half demon, InuYasha has demon qualities that surpass human limitations. Such abilities included:
Enhanced Strength:
InuYasha is able to plow through buildings, tear apart various solid objects, carry two or more people (or other heavy objects.) Uproot wilderness, lift boulders. It has been confirmed that he can lift up to 10 tons with one hand alone, bringing him up to 20 tons if both arms are used.
Enhanced Speed:
InuYasha can travel at higher speeds, speeds of which that exceed horses and several other demons on their journey. With the combination of his strength and speed, InuYasha can leap for large and tall distances that most normally aren't capable of. Rumiko states that InuYasha's full powered leaps are great enough to clear three mountain peaks.
Enhanced Stamina/Endurance:
InuYasha's stamina mostly extends from his demon lineage. He is able to sprint for long distances without breaks or a need to rest. His ability to endure fatal plows allow him to walk out of fights without the fear of dying. Even serious injuries such as being impaled don't keep him down for very long. Regardless of his injury count, he almost always is able to stand back up and continue, albeit it weaker and slower, but not down for the count.
Enhanced Senses:
InuYasha's enhanced senses mostly extended to hear and smell. His dog ears catch faint noises and whispers from lengthy distances. His sense of smell is keen, more so than even his own hearing. The extent of his nose's ability is shown to pick up scents from massive distances away from where he's standing. The overall length is not confirmed but it has been shown that he can pick up on blood (especially) from several miles (possibly more) away. Scents like youkai and the dead also don't escape him.
Regeneration/Longevity:
InuYasha's injuries heal more rapidly than that of a normal human. Minor injuries such as cuts /normal stabbings/ and gashes take about less than a day to fully heal as if they had never happened. (Or a tooth being yanked out can come back as early as half a day.) Deeper, more serious wounds such as being impaled are something closer to less than a week before being fully healed. Along with regeneration is his longevity. While InuYasha may look like he's in his mid-teens, he actually breaking past the 200-year mark.
Because he also is half demon, InuYasha bears techniques humans don't. Such techniques include:
Sankon Tessou/Iron Reaver Soul Stealer:
When channeling his demonic energy, InuYasha can extends his claws (giving it that golden flare) to cut through his enemies with relative ease. Even demons who's abilities are enhanced by the Shikon jewel, he is still able to strike them down with few blows. Rumiko states that it can make a clean cut through industrial steel support beams. It is his most common attack.
Youkai form claws have a red flare and is much stronger than that of his normal attack. While in this form he can slice through that of a daiyoukai's (explanation later) skin such as Ryuukotsusei.
Hijin Kessou/Blades of Blood:
Similar to his previous technique, InuYasha can use his blood with the extension of his youkai energy to cast crescent-like blood blades at his enemy. Such technique requires his own blood for it to work.
InuYasha is burdened by the fact that his father's blood risks overwhelming him and controlling him to the point where his human soul is devoured.
Youkai/Demon form:
This form of InuYasha is shown to emerge when InuYasha's life is in danger and he's backed into a corner. This form cannot emerge when InuYasha wields Tetsusaiga or has Tetsusaiga on his person. When said form does surface, his blood takes on the scent of a full-fledged demon even though he is only half. His fangs and claws grow out considerably into a more animalistic form. The sclera of his eyes becomes red, and his pupils blue. Jagged lavender strikes form prominently on his cheek bones. In this form, InuYasha can freely draw upon the full potential of his demonic power, allowing him to easily defeat enemies he wouldn't normally be able to. Both speed and attack take a dramatic increase. In addition, he becomes resistant to poisons and become nullified altogether. Any wounds InuYasha sustained prior to converting are healed instantaneously.
Demon blood such as this (especially from his father who is considered very powerful) have negative effects on InuYasha and his half human self. With every emersion of his demon self, InuYasha becomes less lucid and more primitive. In this form, his only desire is to kill.
Weapons.
Testsusaiga: A fang blade inherited by his deceased father as a means to protect himself.
Katana Form - Has a barrier around it that prevents demons from handling, let alone touching it. while in its katana form it is still able to protect humans (like Kagome) who wield it, acting as a type of reflective barrier during the attack phase. In InuYasha's case, his Tetsusaiga acts as a suppressant to keep his demonic lineage in check.
Tessaiga no Saya - The sheath of the Tetsusaiga also acts as a barrier to humans who use it in a similar fashion as the katana form of Tetsusaiga. Unlike the blade itself, the sheath is limited and prone to damage. It also is able to recall Tetsusaiga from a distance.
True Form - Kenatsu, channeling his demon energy through the sword, the pressure of it alone can cut through others without even touching them.
Kaze no Kizu/Wind Scar:
A powerful attack that can slaughter a 100 demons with a single strike. By locating the scar of InuYasha's energy/aura, and the energy/aura of his opponent, InuYasha is able to strike through it releasing the pressure of the two energies and turning it on his opponent. It has been confirmed that the maximum range of his scar is 80 meters.
Bakuryuuha/Backlash Wave:
This is considered the Tetsusaiga's ultimate technique. InuYasha draws upon his opponent's attack energy with the aid of his first technique, Kaze no Kizo envelopes around the enemies attack and after striking a specific point, InuYasha redirects the original attack, along with the attack of Kaze no Kizu and sends it all back to his enemy. This is only successful if InuYasha's energy can envelop around the aura of his enemy without dwarfing it. This attack is useless to demons that are stronger than he is.
Barrier Shattering: Since absorbing the Bat tribe's Blood Coral Crystal's powers, the sword takes on a red glow and gains the ability to break barriers. When combined with the Wind Scar it can even shatter Naraku's dense demonic barrier.

God/Shinki: Shinki
Why?: InuYasha has struggled his entire life, from the moment he was born, to when his mother died. Even when he was unable to save his one love. In spite of all that's happened to him, InuYasha hasn't given up. With his new found bonds, he has no intention to anytime soon. InuYasha's every day struggles that he continually overcomes isn't necessarily god material, nor would he have the mental capacity to guide wisely. Should he have been a god, any shinki under him would face perilous threats toward their wellbeing if they strayed. We don't need a god threatening to break arms, do we?
Cause Of Death: InuYasha entered a near death situation, to which his demonic blood emerged and took control. Having lost another piece of his human soul, InuYasha was unable to fight for his senses, and was unable to receive aid from his friends because they were not present. InuYasha became a murderous blood lusting demon that roamed with the drive to kill until he was eventually eradicated by a more powerful demon. Luckily for him, his human soul still remained in tact during his passing.
Vessel: Katate-uchi, a short version of uchigatana that was designed for one-handed use.
Name Location: Left Scapula - [最愛き/さいあいき]
Power: Strengthened Defense.
InuYasha's main character growth outside of bonding, is protecting. That said, his power would focus on defending his god from harm. Strong blows toward the wielder can be endured or reduced to a more bearable impact. The wielder is impervious to casual hits and strikes.
